How will AI be regulated?

In a public blog post that is more high-level than specific, OpenAI leaders have called for an international regulatory body to monitor and manage the existential risks of superintelligent AI. Similar to how there is an International Atomic Energy Agency for nuclear weapons, OpenAI believes that a similar group needs to be formed.

It follows Sam Altman’s recent trip to Congress where he effectively agreed with his questioners that AI needed to be regulated.

While the idea is sound in principle, how this gets practically implemented is anybody’s guess.
