Will more countries need to step in to upskill their workers and protect them from AI replacement? Italy thinks so.

Italy is earmarking $30 million to help workers whose jobs are at risk as artificial intelligence transforms the labor market worldwide. Some of the jobs that could be at risk include those in transportation and logistics, office and administrative support, production, services and sales.

The program will offer online courses, mentoring, and career guidance to help workers adapt to the new skills and roles demanded by AI.

It likely won’t be the last instance of a country stepping in, but it’s a welcome sign to see a country invest in its citizens.
