🥟 Chao-Down #78 Hackers use generative AI to create malware, Google introduces AI-powered privacy platform, ChatGPT begins giving therapy

Meta just issued a warning that hackers are using generative AI to create new malware.

In March alone, the company tracked 10 AI-generated malware campaigns. Riding the wave of ChatGPT excitement, cybercriminals created malicious browser extensions with working ChatGPT features alongside malware to avoid suspicion. The harmful code would execute a hidden payload on an infected device after bypassing several layers of security.

Catching up to these AI-powered cyber-attacks will prove to be an ongoing challenge for cybersecurity professionals as it becomes that much more difficult to detect and defend against malware.

Let’s hope we catch up before it’s too late.
