🥟 Chao-Down #41 Leaked Facebook AI turns into offensive 'Based' chatbot, Samsung caught faking zoom photos of the moon

This is a consequence of open-sourcing large language models.

After 4Chan users leaked a download link to Facebook’s latest LLaMA model, people have already created a Discord bot where users can talk with a virtual agent similar to how you can interact with ChatGPT.

Unfortunately, because this model now is no longer under Facebook’s control, people are able to circumvent the guardrails that would normally be in place and get the chatbot to produce some nonsensical and sometimes offensive responses.

With the potential for such harm, will companies still want to release their models to the public? Or put it behind their walled gardens? We’ll have to see.
