🥟 Chao-Down #32 FTC watchdog issues warning to AI marketers, Microsoft brings Bing AI to Windows 11

Plus, 60% of adults uncomfortable with AI in their healthcare

The US Federal Trade Commision (FTC) has a message for marketers and advertisers who hype up their AI products: don't be artificial about your intelligence.

The FTC just released an update on their blog warning those who promote AI products to keep their claims "in check."

“AI” has become a buzzword that some abuse to hoodwink consumers or inflate sales, and as such, the agency will crack down on such scams.

The FTC suggests marketing teams to do some homework before launching or plugging their AI products. These include:

  • checking whether the product can actually back up its claims

  • whether it is superior to non-AI rivals

  • whether they have weighed the possible risks and impact of the product

  • and whether the product actually uses AI at all.

The FTC says that bogus claims that a product is AI-powered will not fool its watchdogs.

AI-gurus beware.
