Apparently, people say they trust the government more than companies on AI.

In a new survey commissioned by The Artificial Intelligence Policy Institue, 82% of respondents said they don’t trust tech companies to regulate AI. 56% of voters would rather see a federal agency regulating AI, compared to 14% who don't.

Seeing such strong support in one direction is rare on any hot-button issue, and these results highlight the sentiment of the general population towards AI.

The real question is, are our governments even prepared to regulate AI?
