🥟 Chao-Down #140 Meta looks to launch chatbots with personas, How AI is restoring voices otherwise lost to disease, US government agencies look to AI to handle public record requests

Plus, Apple begins taking down GenAI apps to comply with China’s new regulations.

Today’s read from the Washington Post is a great look at one of the amazing use cases of AI, giving people who have suffered from diseases like ALS the ability to speak in their own voice again.

It centers around a product called a voice bank which records people’s voices while they can still verbally speak and then re-creates those voices for text-to-speech software.

I’d love to see AI solve more problems like this. Where have you seen AI be used for good?
