It looks like Meta is looking to make money off of Llama 2 after all.

In Meta’s most recent earnings call, Mark Zuckerberg called out that companies like Google, Amazon, and Microsoft who would “basically be reselling the services” of Meta’s open-source large language model should have to pay their portion to Facebook.

It’s a change in tone from the original Llama 2 announcement which granted a fairly broad commercial-friendly license (provided you didn’t have 700 million monthly active users).

Now Zuck’s trying to cash in. What does that imply for the future of open-source AI?
