Banks need to be careful on how they deploy AI chatbots as regulators step in.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau warned that AI-powered chatbots used by financial firms like banks could create false information and ultimately pose harm to consumers. As a result, the CFPB is closely monitoring how these chatbots are being used.

AI systems that are “poorly deployed” could run afoul against consumer financial protection laws and ultimately erode trust in the financial system especially if they give out incorrect information. As one Reddit user points out, talking with a chatbot can lead to some awkward and unhelpful moments.
