Plus, an inside look at how Microsoft's concern about Google's lead led it to invest in OpenAI.
With Elon Musk’s stated release of Tesla’s upcoming robotaxi service in August, it looks like voice will become a more prominent interface for users to interact with their cars.
Astute Tesla fans who monitor release notes of the latest software updates have found that among various new features, Tesla is looking to introduce a voice assistant into its in-car experience. Interestingly, the voice will be narrated by the "Jenny Neutral" voice from Microsoft and will feature some wake-word. (Any guess as to what it will be?)
Electric vehicle sales have been in a slump in the past year so it’s not surprising to see Tesla try to experiment with new features. But seeing that automakers including BMW and VW are also putting ChatGPT-on-wheels, will it really be that differentiated of an experience?
Tesla owners will have to wait to find out.
