🥟 Chao-Down #266 Microsoft secures a Super Bowl ad for Copilot, Google unveils the Gemini Era with Gemini Advanced, OpenAI makes moves towards building AI agents that will automate tasks

Plus, Meta will deploy custom-made AI chips to help power its AI ambitions.

Microsoft is going to be at the Super Bowl, and it’s all about Copilot.

After a year’s worth of learnings from ChatGPT, Microsoft is focusing their attention away from Bing and towards Copilot, an "AI companion" that is now being integrated into its core software and services. The company recently unveiled a Super Bowl ad for Copilot, emphasizing creativity and productivity over traditional search engines.

Unlike previous ads that showcased Windows PCs and emotional narratives, this one centers solely on a smartphone, shows people trying to get work done, and ultimately pushes users to download the Copilot app on iOS and Android. The ad walks a fine line between empowering users and addressing concerns about AI replacing jobs, especially in creative fields.

The marketing move reflects Microsoft's commitment to positioning Copilot as the future of its AI efforts, distinct from the search rivalry with Google.

How will the public receive it? We’ll have to see on Super Bowl Sunday.
