It seems like even Sam Altman cannot definitively say what humans do better than AI anymore.
In an interview the OpenAI CEO gave at Davos this year, Altman was asked “What’s the core competence of human beings?” This turned into an hour-long discussion over the future of technology which had at its core theme that Fortune points out:
In a world racing to develop the first artificial general intelligence, what does humanity still excel at when a machine comes along that is effectively smarter in every way?
Altman’s responses centered around humanity’s central-role in decision-making but conceded that “general purpose cognition” feels “different this time” and that new models could soon exceed people’s ability to do reasoning and cognitive tasks.
Is Sam right? Are we that much closer to a completely AI-excelled world?
