Plus, one company proposes to use the energy generated from running AI models and mining Bitcoin to warm people's homes.
Apparently, you can now get paid to warm your home and train large language models at the same time.
One company, Heatbit, is creating a device that runs silicon chips and generates heat by running AI, mining Bitcoin, and rendering video games.
According to the CEO Alex Busarov, Bitcoin mining and AI training—which has increased over 1 million times in the last seven years—together consume more energy than the entire United Kingdom. All of that energy would go to waste as heat, which would normally need to be cooled in a data center, costing more money.
For Heatbit, they thought it would be a good idea to redirect that heat to warm thousands of people’s homes.
It’s a win-win right?
